Have you lost a cell phone with particularly sensitive information? As something most people keep at-hand for a large majority of our waking moments, it’s tempting to pack everything inside of a cellphone. Unfortunately, these convenient little devices are also rather easy to lose — which make those secret slightly less secure than we’d think! Fortunately, this is an issue that the ingenious app developers in the industry have figured out and made solutions for!
Learn some of the best ways to format phones, find phones, and even, lock phones remotely in the step by step tutorials we’ve laid out below!
For our first tutorial, we’re going to show you how to use an app called Find My Deviceto secure your Android device and make it possible for you to find, lock, and format your phone from a remote location! Which is, as you can assume, perfect for guarding your secrets and making sure that no one gets access to them without your say-so!
The process is admittedly a bit complex, however, so make sure to stick with us through the breakdown we’ve prepared!
First things first, you have to make sure that your Android device is set up properly when it comes to its Settings. This starts by turning on your Android’s Locationservices — which is what will allow the app we’re going to introduce to function properly. Do so by…
Go to Settings > Biometrics and Security > Locationand turn on the toggle switch there!
Next, you need to allow Google’s Location Services. This can be done by…
Go to Settings > Biometrics and Security > Find My Mobileand toggle on the Google Location Servicesoption (highlighted in the image to the extreme right!)
Next, on the Find My Device app (which you can install on any other device) log in to the same Google Accountyou used for your Android phone!
That will give you access to your phone’s location as well as the Secure function.
For a more extremeoption — very useful if you really don’t want anyone getting into the information that you have on your phone, you can use the Erase Device function.
NOTE:Formatting your device means that you will be logged out of your Google Account on that device, which will mean that locating the phone in the future is impossible. So, only do this if you are certain of the consequences!
Next up, we’re going to teach you how to do something very similarbut this time for an iOS device! For this, we’re going to be using iPhone’s native Find My iPhonetool, which you can set up at any time and access remotely through any browser should you have the need for it. This, just like the tool we introduced previously, should give you the means to find, lock, and format your iPhone remotely in case you lose it and want to remove any sensitive or personal information before anyone can hack through your security!
First things first, you will need to change up your Apple ID settings. Go to your Settings > Apple IDin order to get this started!
Note:It should be noted that this is the Apple ID that you are going to be using later on!
Once you’re on your iPhone’s Apple IDsettings page, locate the Find Myto be moved to the Find Mysettings page! This is where you can turn on the Find My iPhonesettings — allowing your phone and other supported accessories to be trackable through Find My iPhone.
You will also have to turn on your iPhone’s location services settings. This can be done by going to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.Once you’re in the Location Services Menu, enable it so that your phone is discoverable through GPS means.
We’re not going to go in too deep here, but once all your settings have been properly set up, you should then be able to use iCloud’s Find My iPhone tool (which you access from any browser,) in order to find, lock, and/or format your phone!
Note:To access yourdevice’s location and control it remotely, you will need to use the same iCloud account details used on your iPhone!
Last, of all, we’re going to teach you how to track a phone remotely with a tool called Aispyer. In this case, the phone doesn’t even have to be yours! It can be just about anyone else’s (you won’t need personal account details — you just need to install the app on whosever’s phone you want to track the location of.)
In order to use Aispyer to its fullest, you need to set yourself up with an Aispyer account. This is what you’re going to use in order to track your (or someone else’s) location.
Next! Set up whatever device you want to have access to. Whether it’s yours (to prevent any losses) or someone else’s (to monitor their activity.)
This step is made easy by going to the Aispyer website and following their pre-made comprehensive step-by-step installation guides!
With the device all set up, you should now be able to access its location whenever you need it. For this, sign in to Aispyer and you’ll be moved to the dashboard (as is shown below!)
The dashboard has a lot of the main tools available for easy access. This includes a general real-time location tracking tool called Last Known Location, that you can use in order to track the whereabouts of the device you’re targeting!
